Hello and welcome!
Today, I want to share Michael Saylor's 10 pieces of advice for young people. I was going through my podcast list and thought this would be useful and helpful regardless of age. I decided to take each item and personalize it with what I believe is important advice. So, a big thank you to Michael Saylor in advance (I know he's not reading this one, but it's okay). Alright, grab your coffee or drink of choice, and let's get to it!
Focus your energy.
I believe one of the most disruptive forces in our lives is the lack of focus and consistency. We always have great ideas, plans, and goals. We understand the path, but we have very little conviction to stick to it unless we see quick results. I believe we live in an era of instant gratification. With the help of technology, we can order anything from the palm of our hand and it's automatically on its way. Even money moves around digitally, and with the creation of Bitcoin, we have also added digital instant settlement. So, it is very important to keep the focus on the bigger goal and not get distracted by small wins. We tend to analyze job offers, expenses, relationships, finances, and education from the perspective of immediate gratification, without considering the long-term results of those actions. If you don't believe me, look at how many relationships and opportunities you have lost by letting your temper decide who wins the argument. Or how many times you have sacrificed your education for a quick buck, and now you are still not living your best life! I know my energy is focused on improving the quality of my life, the quality of the lives of those I love, and making sure I pass along the information to help someone else along the way! So, where do I store my focused energy, how do I transfer my focused energy, and how do I exchange it for more knowledge and a better life?... Bitcoin's digital scarcity is my tool of choice.
Guard your time.
This one is very important, and we have already discussed it in another article. Your time is the most valuable asset you have, and it should be protected at all costs. Don't give it away, don't sell it cheap, and don't exchange it for devalued, inflationary fiat money. You can't get a refund on this one, and by the time you understand the trade, it's usually too late.
Train your mind.
Education is the key to success, and I don't mean academic education. Life is full of opportunities to learn. Mentors are all around, waiting to share knowledge with you. It is important to always make sure you are ready to learn and take note of your environment, your relationships, and the opportunities life will present. Like Jay Z always says: Make sure you are always the dumbest and poorest person at the table you are sitting at. It's the best way to learn. I know it's hard to believe, but libraries are still a cheap and sometimes free way to borrow books to learn about your history and any skill you may want to acquire. But if that's not enough, I'm pretty sure the internet has the information you are looking for. Get to work!
Train your body.
Maintaining a healthy diet, engaging in some form of exercise, and getting enough sleep are the keys to success. I believe that crimes, accidents, and unhealthy lives are the result of not protecting your "temple." It's very difficult to resist the temptation of bad food and habits... I know I'm guilty of it. But remember that every time you don't take care of your body, you are making a trade with your future self... and guess what? Your future self is not getting the best deal out of the trade.
Think for yourself.
Critical thinking is the most important aspect of developing into a successful person. With today's corrupted sources of information and the unfortunate abuse of social media to manipulate children and youth and even adults into a particular way of life, the most important skill you can have is critical thinking. My way of living: assume every piece of information is biased and inaccurate, but by collecting from different sources, you can develop your own opinions. Same as last week... don't cancel people... listen, learn and disregard useless information.
Curate your friends.
This one is very important... don't confuse colleagues and acquaintances with friends. Make sure to have a select group of people in your life who will support you no matter what. People say, "You are the 5 people you hang out with"... so make sure you are a very loyal, trusted, and supportive person.
7. Curate your environment.
Living in a bad environment, even when it's a temporary situation, can cause physical and mental deterioration. Make sure you prioritize having good light and fresh air around you, eat healthy, keep your place clean and organized, and have a good sleep schedule. Living in a bad neighborhood to save money gives you a higher chance of being harmed, receiving a poor education, and not having access to good resources. You can simply start by making your bed every morning and not leaving dirty dishes piled up... the rest will fall into place over time.
Keep your promises.
It takes 20 years to build a reputation and 5 minutes to destroy it. If you have kids, you know that they remember every single promise you break. But they also trust you with their life because of the promises you have kept. The same goes for the rest of the world. Your word is the most valuable currency you have to negotiate any deal. So make sure it's not a fiat word that loses value over time.
Stay cheerful and constructive.
No one wants to be around a downer. The world is always expanding, improving, evolving, and transforming into something new and better. Make sure to be part of those who can appreciate and embrace the goodness in every aspect of life. If your comment doesn't add to the equation, keep it to yourself. And understand that arguments and conflicts are simply the result of the inability to accept that we may be wrong and someone else may be right or can offer a different perspective.
Upgrade the world.
Make sure to add value to the world. Build something, teach something, learn something... in other words, proof of work. Don't live at other people's expense and make sure to contribute to society in a constructive way that removes conflict from the equation. We can all be mentors and teachers while being students of life. You can have all the money in the world and change someone's life, or you can keep it to yourself to become powerful and successful in the eyes of those you call "friends"... A good friend won't just invite you to the boat party; they will also teach you how to get a boat and park it next to theirs.
I'm not just sharing this list as advice; it's the way I live and what I believe to be the best path for success. PROOF OF WORK. If you agree with some of the points here, well… you are a Bitcoiner my friend, but you just don’t know it yet!
See you next week!

¡Hola y bienvenidos!
¡Ponte a trabajar!
Entrena tu cuerpo.
